Wille and the Bandits @ Hootananny
Feb 26 @ 8:00 pm

Essentially Wille and the Bandits is a classic blues rock three piece much in the vein of Cream or The Jimi Hendrix experience. But in a similar way to how these bands pushed the genre in their time, Wille and the Bandits try to take their sound beyond what is expected of such a traditional line up.

The use of more bizarre instrumentation and eclectic influences in the song writing often pushes them more into a world music or progressive category. Having toured with artists such as Deep Purple through to the John Butler trio and played major festivals across Europe, the band seem to leave an equally astounding impression on audiences of all ages and musical backgrounds with their energetic and soulful performances.

They have received great critical acclaim, being voted in the top ten must see bands at Glastonbury 2014 by BBC Radio 1 and reaching number 2 in the UK blues chart with their first single on downloads alone.

The band are praised in the press for their albums; bursting at the seams with textures, originality and soul. Rock legends such as Ian Paice, Joe Bonamassa and Francis Rossi have also praised the band’s musicianship and their unique edge to Rock and Blues.

Nick Mercer Jr @ Hootananny

Nick Mercer Jr

For most upstarts the fantasy of being a budding singer songwriter is often de railed rather quickly by the reality of itture and existence of struggle and uncertainty, but not for this young Scotsman. Having recently moved to the capital Jr is content with just singing his songs to anyone who is around to listen and is well aware that the use of his voice and melodies are the only thing he has to feed mouthes and pay bills. The situation he is in doesn’t bring him despair but creates a sense of hope that there might someday be another crowning of the poor. The fact of the matter is that these songs are strong and if you wrote them you would be a fool if you didn’t drop everything and walk with them down the very path he has chosen.

Andy Duncan @ Hootanannny
Mar 9 @ 9:30 pm

Andy Duncan is a well known face on the Inverness circuit. With over 20 years worth of gigs under his belt, you could say he was an accomplished musician in his own right, with many playing styles in his repertoire, not least for his rhythmic hand drumming on the Djembe.

His passion, however, lies in traditional Scottish folk songs and music and accompanied by the very talented local fiddle player, Rachel Campbell, you will hear some fantastic traditional jigs and reels sure to get the blood pumping.
