On Friday 13 May 2016 Book Group release their debut album, The Great Indoors. The first single, Late Show, was released in December 2015 supported by a UK – wide tour and numerous plays on BBC Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart Show. The 2nd Single, Kickstart, with accompanying video, will be out on Friday 25 March 2016.
Scottish four – piece Book Group are almost a rock band. Formed in late 2012, the band haven’t stopped for breath since. Their two EPs, Homeward Sound(2013) and Tantrums(2014), and AA single on Gerry Loves Records(2014), have all been met with much praise; with live favourites Victory Lap and Here Is Too Near both topping end – of – year best -of polls in 2013/2014 respectively.
Armed with fizzing and infectious guitar hooks, witty, insightful lyricism, and thundering drums, the band pull and push on synths, megaphones and Christmas cracker toys to build simmering layers of pop. Front-man Graeme Anderson’s story – driven songs about friends, escaping the city, and the failures of technology, twist from confessional and intimate, to childish-but-hopeful in a heartbeat; but are always at the core of whatever noise is going on around him. The band have chalked up festival appearances at the likes of Rockness, Wickerman and Homegame(RIP), and have headlined sold out shows at either end of the UK where their gigs are known to end with band members lost in the crowd.
“…an Edinburgh four- piece whose Grandaddy/ Teenage Fanclub/Sebadoh hybrid is a thrill.” The Herald
“Chugging along on a catchy-as-hell riff, the track flip-flops marvelously between devilishly handsome guitars and
excitable vocals that remain contagious throughout.” GoldFlakePaint
“excellent feedback-strewn debut…evoking and defying Grandaddy’s Sophtware Slump.” The List
“This Edinburgh’s group’s debut attracted sincere praise, and they delivered a stirring set at Fence’s Gnomegame.” The Skinny
“…a touch of Pavement, a soupcon of Urusei Yatsura… but they’re also pretty intense. One Direction they’re not.” Is This Music
