Scotch

The Dutch band Scotch produces high-energy shows with upbeat melodies on trumpet-fiddle and accordeon, alternated with polyphonic singing on a driving base of drums, bass and guitar. This party folk is equally danceable
played acoustically or fully amplified. The combination of own material with traditional folk songs from every corner of the world is brought straight from the heart and without any restraint. Whether it’s in the streets, at a
club or on the festival floor, you’ll feel only this moment counts.
In the past 10 years, Scotch has played over 500 shows throughout Europe and released five studio albums”

Journey North @ Hootananny
Nov 29 @ 9:30 pm

“This is the music we bring to the table, the food of our hearts, the fruits of our labours”

Drawing on the wide variety of musical experiences in the band, Journey North combine the storytelling traditions of Scottish music with the dynamics of a rock band.

Their love of playing live is clear for anyone to see and no matter the size of venue, if you are in the audience, you are part of the band.

Playing original songs which tell tales of battles, loves, lives and minds lost (and won) you can be sure that toes will be tapped, hands clapped and new friends will be made. You may even shed a tear or two but rest assured you will spend an evening with five mates who all love to play music and who appreciate every single second they get to share that with you.

Mad-Ferret 2

The Mad Ferret Band are a Scottish duo, known on the folk scene for their hard hitting blend of traditional and contemporary Folk music. Their lively, energetic performances are packed with “blisteringly fast Mandolin solos”, tight harmonies, driving Cajon beats and earth-moving Guitar sounds. The influence from both Scottish and Irish folk music has helped shape their unique sound.

The Duo features Chris Woods on Mandolin, Guitar and Vocals and Sandy Stirton on Guitar, Cajon and Vocals.

Based in Perth, Scotland they are an extremely hard working band having played an average of 180 gigs a year across the U.K. and Europe. Since forming in 2012 they have been honing their music by playing the pub and small venue scene. They look to be even busier in 2015, with more festival performances and European tours on the way.
