rev magnetic

FREE ENTRY

18+ | Standing only

Combining elements of dream pop, R&B, shoegaze and post rock, Rev Magnetic revolves around the core of long-time Mogwai collaborator Luke Sutherland (Long Fin Killie, Bows), Audrey Bizouerne (Gift Horse), Sam Leighton (Live w/ Prides, ST.MARTiiNS, So Many Animal Calls) and Gregor Emond who played with Luke in a band called Hynd way back before the birth of the internet.

While touring the world as guest multi-instrumentalist with Mogwai, Luke Sutherland (Long Fin Killie, Bows, Music A.M.) used the downtime to sketch a bunch of songs. Once he got home, he wrote a handful more and recorded them with the help of a few friends at his cottage on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. The result was an album’s worth of material with references ranging from My Bloody Valentine to Teebs, Lemmy-era Hawkwind to ABBA, Vaughan Williams to Boulez

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West
Nov 17 @ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

declan welsh

Finding your own unique point of view in an overwhelming, rowdy world takes time, patience and introspection. Being able to execute it in a way that feels authentic and distinctive is another battle entirely. Growing up in suburban East Kilbride and now based in Glasgow, Declan Welsh is a poet and songwriter that has managed to cement his individuality by putting humanity at the core of his comments about today’s current affairs. Along with his band The Decadent West, Welsh is here to use his music as a catalyst for hope and for change.

Joined by Duncan McBride (Guitar), Ben Corlett (Bass) and Murray Noble (Drums), the band are known for their strong socialist views and performed in Palestine in 2016 as well as Billy Bragg’scurated Leftfield Stage at Glastonbury. Releasing the All My Dreams Are Dull EP back in 2018, they built a strong following in the Scottish indie scene thanks to their anthems about toxic
masculinity, rent increases, the rise of right-wing fascists and battling the intolerance that surrounds us. Now, debut album Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold sees the four-piece build upon this raucous political fury, enforcing the idea that in today’s environment, we’re unable to ignore the atrocities forging our existential dread.

Zoe Graham
Over 14s (under 16s with an adult)
_______

There is an impressive maturity and attention to detail in Zoe Graham’s music that sets this accomplished young songwriter apart from her peers. On stage, you will find her either with band or fleshing out the instrumentation with loop pedals on solo outings.

But when Zoe pares it back to just a vocal and acoustic guitar, as she does on the achingly poignant The Anniesland Lights (from her recent Hacket & Knackered EP), that is when you know you’re in the company of someone very special indeed. Championed by BBC Radio Scotland‘s Roddy Hart and with multiple Celtic Connections appearances to her name, Zoe Graham’s understated charms will not stay below the radar for much longer.

scotch 2

Various musical elements merge in a special live show that leaves the boundaries of reality far behind. With their cheerful Folkloric melodies and driving rhythms Scotch guarantees a big feast in every occasion! The cynical lyrics combined with the frank voice of La Smellitia gets the tension on the stage sky high.

Scotch has always had its unique sound and obstinate theatrical interpretations. Some may describe the style of Scotch as Folk Rock, Theatric Punk, Balkan Ska or Celtic Baroque Rock. In the end, all will agree that you have to see a live show to meet the Scotch experience.
