Since forming in 2012 they have already shared the stage with heavyweights such as DJ Yoda, Mr Scruff, A.Skillz, Featurecast & The Funk Hunters and have an impressive number of gigs and performances behind them.

As well as their weekly residency at Glasgow’s home of funk & soul; The Buff Club, the boys have played clubs from Edinburgh to Amsterdam as well as festival appearances up and down the UK including T in the Park, Beat Herder and Eden.

Not content with just rocking the party, SLY are regularly producing their own edits, remixes, tracks and videos. With, DJ, blog and radio support flowing in for the boys production’s and their debut EP going to number 1 on Juno they are equally at home in the studio as they are on stage.

Nicky Murray and friends

“Young Glasgow singer/songwriter Nicky Murray has been travelling around writing/playing and gigging for the past 7 years. The combination of his voice and guitar is spellbinding. All of his songs have that perfect folky feeling to it. Not quite the Mumford and Sons vibe, it feels more intimate and personal, something that is quite hard to find these days.
Alongside Nicky, you’ll more often than not find his musical companion Chloe Rodgers on fiddle, her elegant playing brings nothing less of a magical heart-warming touch to the sound they create. They maintain that they don’t have a particular genre or set style that they stick to, citing folk, jazz, trad, and several other styles. Together they bring a friendly, yet moving atmosphere to the stage.”

Arthur Coates and friends
Nov 8 @ 9:30 pm – Nov 9 @ 12:15 am

arthur coates

Arthur has been playing Fiddle since the age of 7, growing up in rural Aberdeenshire, north east of Scotland. His first teacher Sharon Hassan was a very big influence in his musical development. Upon attending his second annual ‘Gaitherin’ He was inspired to take up the Guitar by John Coletta (The Humpff Family). At the age of 12 Arthur was awarded a scholarship to attend the ‘Aberdeen City Music School’ to study Fiddle and Guitar. Here He was taught by Jonny Hardie (Old Blind Dogs), who is still a huge influence on his music. Around this time Arthur was at the Sidmouth Folk Week, he saw ‘Le Vent Du Nord’ who would become his favorite band. They continue a big influence on his music.

In July 2016 Arthur was invited to join ‘Aff Oor Hieds’ as the group’s guitarist, alongside Andrew Legge (Fiddle), Noah Jack (Bass) and Stuart Jack (Percussion). They continued to play in this format until January 2017.

While playing with ‘Aff Oor Hieds’, in September 2016, Andrew, Stuart and Arthur founded a new band ‘The Rowies’ with vocalist Ellie Beaton. This musical format seemed to be quite successful and the band made a name for themselves. They supported bands such as ‘Rant’, ‘The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc’, ‘Session A9’, ‘The Crooked Brothers’ and ‘The Old Blind Dogs’.

In September 2017 Citing the need to play the fiddle more, Arthur formed a new band ‘Tolquhon’ with Duncan Ritchie (Accordion), Douglas Barber (Percussion, Jaw Harp) and Patrick Gray (Piano). Again the format proved successful and in 2018 the group did over 35 shows, including an extensive tour of England. They released their debut album in October 2018.

2019 marks the start of a new project for Arthur, as he will release and tour a brand new album/show. This album will be recorded in January and released in May. It features just Fiddle, Guitar, Vocals and Podorythmie (Foot Percussion).

Combining elements of dream pop, R&B, shoegaze and post rock, Rev Magnetic revolves around the core of long-time Mogwai collaborator Luke Sutherland (Long Fin Killie, Bows), Audrey Bizouerne (Gift Horse), Sam Leighton (Live w/ Prides, ST.MARTiiNS, So Many Animal Calls) and Gregor Emond who played with Luke in a band called Hynd way back before the birth of the internet.

While touring the world as guest multi-instrumentalist with Mogwai, Luke Sutherland (Long Fin Killie, Bows, Music A.M.) used the downtime to sketch a bunch of songs. Once he got home, he wrote a handful more and recorded them with the help of a few friends at his cottage on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. The result was an album’s worth of material with references ranging from My Bloody Valentine to Teebs, Lemmy-era Hawkwind to ABBA, Vaughan Williams to Boulez
