Mad-Ferret 2

The Mad Ferret Band are a Scottish duo, known on the folk scene for their hard hitting blend of traditional and contemporary Folk music. Their lively, energetic performances are packed with “blisteringly fast Mandolin solos”, tight harmonies, driving Cajon beats and earth-moving Guitar sounds. The influence from both Scottish and Irish folk music has helped shape their unique sound.

The Duo features Chris Woods on Mandolin, Guitar and Vocals and Sandy Stirton on Guitar, Cajon and Vocals.

Based in Perth, Scotland they are an extremely hard working band having played an average of 180 gigs a year across the U.K. and Europe. Since forming in 2012 they have been honing their music by playing the pub and small venue scene. They look to be even busier in 2015, with more festival performances and European tours on the way.

Notable gigs include; Danny Kyle Stage at Celtic Connections 2014, Northern Roots Festival 2014 & 2015, Montrose Music Festival, Mull Music Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Perth Concert Hall 2014, multiple European tours in Switzerland.

Though he hailed from Fort William, Calum moved to Inverness in 2007 where he strived to focus on his technique.

Calum is an energetic musician who has performed in Italy, Belgium, France, and Germany. Now he is coming to Hootananny for a night that can not be missed!
