Ted Christopher is one of Scotland’s finest performers. He is a well-travelled and extremely versatile singer songwriter. He is equally at home whether singing heart-felt originals to a concert audience, belting out Scottish favourites to the Tartan Army or playing some of his huge pop/rock repertoire to a packed dance floor.
Unfazed by any size of audience, he played to 750,000 people on The Mall in Washinton DC. A week later there were 12 in Cowie Miners Welfare. How’s that for a quick reality check? And they were both great gigs!
Ted has been involved in the Scottish live music scene since he was fifteen. He is proud to be a native of The Royal and Ancient Burgh of Stirling (Stirling is now a city but he much prefers the previous description of his hometown) and was born and raised a mere claymore’s length from Stirling Castle and The National Wallace Monument.
Ted performs many solo gigs, sometimes uses a couple of musicians as “The Ted Christopher Band” and of course fronts “Bannockburn”
More fantastic traditional tunes.
Scotland’s bad-boy AV funkers Shaka Loves You boast a full audio-visual show with live percussion. Effortlessly fusing elements of funk, soul, disco & hip-hop with custom visuals, SLY create the perfect, party-rocking live show.
Since forming in 2012 they have already shared the stage with heavyweights such as DJ Yoda, Mr Scruff, A.Skillz, Featurecast & The Funk Hunters and have an impressive number of gigs and performances behind them.
As well as their weekly residency at Glasgow’s home of funk & soul; The Buff Club, the boys have played clubs from Edinburgh to Amsterdam as well as festival appearances up and down the UK including T in the Park, Beat Herder and Eden.
Not content with just rocking the party, SLY are regularly producing their own edits, remixes, tracks and videos. With, DJ, blog and radio support flowing in for the boys production’s and their debut EP going to number 1 on Juno they are equally at home in the studio as they are on stage.
Nicky Murray and friends
“Young Glasgow singer/songwriter Nicky Murray has been travelling around writing/playing and gigging for the past 7 years. The combination of his voice and guitar is spellbinding. All of his songs have that perfect folky feeling to it. Not quite the Mumford and Sons vibe, it feels more intimate and personal, something that is quite hard to find these days.
Alongside Nicky, you’ll more often than not find his musical companion Chloe Rodgers on fiddle, her elegant playing brings nothing less of a magical heart-warming touch to the sound they create. They maintain that they don’t have a particular genre or set style that they stick to, citing folk, jazz, trad, and several other styles. Together they bring a friendly, yet moving atmosphere to the stage.”
Awkward Family Portraits have been dishing out rockin’ roots music to the streets of Glasgow since 2016. With a roguish charm and signature style that elevates them far above the dusty stereotypes of the genre, AFP are a band that have one central goal and that is to get you to abandon all of the outside world’s hang-ups and move. The brainchild of four likeminded musicians with a wealth of originality and technical skill at their disposal, you only need to catch the briefest glimpse of one of their live shows to feel an insatiable urge to make your way into the crowd and let loose!
Hailing from Inverness the capital city of the Scottish Highlands Schiehallion are a Scottish Folk/Ceilidh band who have spent the last number of years both at home and further afield building an impressive ardent fan base, this has culminated in them being deserving of their widely held reputation as a fiery and passionate must see live music act.
