AMERICANNY comes to HOOTANANNY!

A night of Americana influenced music from some of the best emerging acts in Scotland!

Featuring:

The Carloways
The Carloways are a young, 5-piece band from Bridge of Earn, Scotland. Influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash and The Rolling Stones, their style is a mixture of modern Rock ‘n’ Roll and good old Country music. Since December 2014 they have been taking music seriously and have been focusing on writing music, gigging constantly and having a good time!

Anton & The Colts

“An ideal accompaniment to strong drink… like Robbie Robertson & Rick Danko having a jam session in the company of Mr Jack Daniel”… Bluesbunny

Driven By Harness

Driven By Harness is a band from Central Scotland, pairing socially-conscious lyrics with an Americana-tinged, alternative rock sound, heavily immersed in the rhythm section.

Originally conceived as an outlet for singer and guitarist Andrew Burton’s (Mull Historical Society) growing collection of home recordings, the band was formed with the addition of bassist Brett Allan (James Brown is Annie) and drummer Chris Whitehouse (Tutor at Drummers Only & Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in late 2013.

During this time the band has amassed a large collection of original material and performed a number of shows in Scotland and mainland Europe, including Butefest and the Immecke Open Air festival in Plettenberg, Germany.

The band’s 7 song debut mini-album ‘The Trade In Lunacy’ was launched at the beginning of April 2016 and is currently being promoted with a series of gigs across Scotland.

The album was recorded over a weekend, in the latter half of 2015, at Chamber Studio in Edinburgh and was mastered by multi Grammy Award-winning Gene Paul, son of guitar hero Les, at G&J Audio in New Jersey.  The album is available to purchase via the band’s Bandcamp website and at live shows.

Band influences include Manchester Orchestra, Tom Waits, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Funkadelic, James Brown, Les McCann, Ryan Adams, The Kills and Portishead.

Aye2Aye

Aye2 Aye are an Inverness based country band whose founders, Elizabeth Sillars and David Newsome share a love of Americana. They formed Aye2Aye as a duo in early 2011 and are now well known in the Highland music circuit.  Currently playing as  a 5 piece band, Aye2Aye now have Matt Sillars on dobro, Elis McFadyen on bass and Robin Bell on drums. They deliver a quirky set loaded with alt-country songs and traditional tunes as well as self-penned numbers.  They have appeared at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and the Looe Festival in Cornwall

Colin Clyne
Award winning Scottish singer/songwriter (Folk Rock and Americana).  After 10 years in California, he left San Diego as a 2 time winner of ‘The Best Acoustic Act’ with San Diego Music Awards.  “The Never Ending Pageant” was produced by Grammy Award Winning Engineer, Alan Sanderson, (The Stones, Elton John, Ryan Adams,) and reached #6 on iTunes Country album charts.  ‘The Sun’ newspaper describing album as ‘…a glorious selection of folk and county rock numbers…’ akin to Ryan Adams. Radio play continues on many BBC stations including the legendary “Whispering” Bob Harris who remarked “… really great album..”
