Fionnlagh Mac A’ Phiocar and Gillie O’ Flaherty are up and coming musicians in the Scottish Traditional Music scene. Spending a year together in the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music, they now study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, where they are active in the session scene.
Fionnlagh’s style is rooted in blas, a term derived from his native Gàidhlig culture, which he explores through the use of smallpipes and Gàidhlig song. He also blends this with more contemporary tunes to fuse old tradition with new wave material.
