Storm the Palace are an Edinburgh-based band centred around songwriter Sophie Dodds and classically trained multi-instrumentalist Reuben Taylor (also known for his work with the likes of James Yorkstone, King Creosote and the Waterson family). Storm the Palace released their debut LP in 2017 to wide critical acclaim; it was described by Scotland on Sunday as “one of the best albums of the year” and by Folk Radio as “compellingly memorable songs, both challenging and inviting”. They have toured in the US, the UK and Ireland, but this will be their first ever foray into the Highlands. They will be performing as a four-piece – with Sophie on vocals and electric guitar and Reuben on accordion, accompanied by vocalist Willa Bews and fiddle player Jon Bews (player with folk heroes such as Cantrip and Shooglenifty). Expect atmospheric songs with imaginative lyrics, set around virtuosic playing and lush vocal harmonies.
