Note from Miss Irenie Rose below:

Hello, I am Miss Irenie Rose.

I’m from the Isle of Lewis. I love the island very much but I have an issue with the weather.

My siblings and I were brought up with lots of music and musical instruments in the house. I think the music that I always go back to is Scottish traditional even though I like a lot of different stuff.

I love soundtracks. That’s where I’ve come across most songs I know. I find that the visuals and audio enhance each other so much that I could like almost anything if it’s in a film!

2010 was the year I started to learn guitar and it suited me – my fingers mostly did what they were told.

Because I didn’t know many/any songs, I decided to write some. I first sang in public by myself and my own music, in October of  ’10. It was scary but surprisingly ok – maybe I was numb. Stornoway was a great place to startbecause there’s such a tight music community. Everyone is lovely and kind.

Since then I have played in and around the UK (and in Sweden, Belgium and Austria too!), supporting amazing artists, playing festivals and getting to be on the radio and TV – crazy! I introduced a  loop pedal into my set which is so much fun to work with.

I plan to carry on if I can and hope to see you somewhere on the road.
