Càrnan are Arthur Brook and Louden Mackay.

Arthur hails from Sleat on the Isle of Skye. Originally a fiddle player, he picked up the guitar in his late teens. Receiving tuition from Scottish singer/guitarist Doc Livingstone, Arthur was introduced to many genres of music, including Irish folk. Arthur’s musical inspirations include artists such as Anna Massie, John Martyn, Leonard Cohen and John Doyle.

Louden comes from Kintail in Lochalsh. From a young age, he was inspired to learn the accordion through the music and playing of his late father Donnie Mackay. Louden has since had privilege of being taught by some of the best traditional musicians in Scotland, including Ally Mackenzie, Andrew Waite, Sandy Brechin and John Carmichael. He studied for two years at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music (NCETM) in Plockton after being accepted in 2017.
